PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a ball joint, by which a shaft member can be electric resistance welded to a ball without providing a power supply opening to a holder that is cast by using the ball as a core, and the smooth action of a ball stud with respect to the holder can be ensured without applying a special treatment to the cast holder.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a ball joint includes steps of: mounting a resin sliding contact member having a first opening and a second opening on a ball; molding a holder that has a closing part to cover the second opening and exposes the spherical surface of the ball only through the first opening, by casting by using the ball as a core; forming a ball stud by bonding a shaft member to the ball exposed through the first opening of the resin sliding contact member by electric resistance welding; and applying a gap forming load to the ball stud in the axial direction to obtain a non-contact state between the ball and a top concave spherical surface of the closing part. |
