PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently identify the next small document without any influence of a curl state of the document or document slip.SOLUTION: When it is estimated that a rear end of a document passes a separation position which separates documents by a separating roller on the basis of a document length determined according to detection output of a contact sensor, a detection state of a document set sensor is confirmed. When the document set sensor does not detect a document, absence of document is determined. When the document set sensor detects a document, a detection state of a rear end detection sensor is further confirmed. When the rear end detection sensor detects a document, presence of document is determined. When the rear end detection sensor does not detect a document, an automatic document feeding apparatus waits for the rear end of the document passing the contact sensor, and at that time, when the document set sensor detects the document, the presence of document is determined. When the document set sensor does not detect a document, the absence of document is determined. |
