PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an array substrate for use in a fringe field switching mode which allows test even after completion.SOLUTION: An array substrate for use in a fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display includes a display area AA including pixel areas defined by gate lines 105 and data lines 130 crossing the gate lines; and first through fourth non-display areas NA surrounding the display area. Each of the pixel areas includes a switching thin film transistor STr and a plate-shaped pixel electrode connected to the switching thin film transistor. A common electrode having bar-shaped openings facing the pixel electrodes is provided over the pixel electrodes throughout the display area. The first through fourth non-display areas include a plurality of test pixel areas IPA surrounding the display area. Each of the test pixel areas includes a test thin film transistor ITr, and a test electrode connected to the test thin film transistor, separated from the common electrode, and formed from the material for the common electrode on the layer including the common electrode. |
