PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which can improve contrast while reducing the thickness, and an electronic apparatus.SOLUTION: The display device comprises: a first substrate, a second substrate and a third substrate in order from an observation side; a first liquid crystal layer placed between the first substrate and the second substrate; a second liquid crystal layer placed between the second substrate and the third substrate; a first polarizer placed on the observation side with respect to the first substrate and having a first polarization axis; a second polarizer placed between the first liquid crystal layer and the second substrate and having a second polarization axis; and a third polarizer placed on the opposite side to the observation side with respect to the third substrate and having a third polarization axis. The first polarization axis and the second polarization axis are parallel to each other and the third polarization axis is orthogonal to the first polarization axis and the second polarization axis.
