PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle travel control device that can stop an own vehicle at an optimal position and can suitably avoid obstacles without subjecting a driver to a load when the vehicle is then restarted.SOLUTION: A vehicle travel control device controls traveling of an own vehicle on the basis of a set speed that has been set in advance, in accordance with conditions surrounding the own vehicle. The vehicle travel control device calculates an own vehicle-travel-side imaginary lane on which the own vehicle can travel in the own vehicle travel side, an oncoming-vehicle-travel-side imaginary lane in which the own vehicle can travel in the oncoming vehicle side, and the remaining road width in the own vehicle travel path on the basis of the road width, the own vehicle-travel-side imaginary lane, and the oncoming-vehicle-travel-side imaginary lane. When there is a point where the calculated remaining road width is less than a predetermined value, the vehicle travel control device stops the travel of the own vehicle at a position on this side of the point. |
