An organic EL display device is provided that exhibits excellent viewing angle characteristics and superior production characteristics. The organic EL display device is provided with at least a polarizer layer, a lambda/2 plate, a lambda/4 plate, and an organic EL panel in this order, and is characterized in that the in-plane retardation (Re2(550)) of the lambda/4 plate at 550 nm satisfies 115<=Re2(550)<=155, and the in-plane retardation (Re1(550)) of the lambda/2 plate at 550 nm satisfies Re1(550)=2×Re2(550)±50 nm. |
