PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network monitoring system capable of flexibly supporting different types of probe devices.SOLUTION: A probe device 10A is put on a network to be monitored. The probe device 10A includes a quality data file generation section for generating a quality data file used to monitor the network. A quality data file is periodically acquired from the probe device 10A by a file acquisition section 21. A file reacquisition section 23 acquires a quality data file from the probe device with timing different from the timing of acquiring a quality data file by the file acquisition section if the file acquisition section 21 failed to acquire the quality data file. According to the configuration, no control signals need to be sent and received between the probe device and the monitoring device so that processing at the probe device and processing at the monitoring device can be separated with each other, thereby allowing the monitoring device to flexibly support different types of probe devices suitable for the network to be monitored.
