PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently optimize a structure cross-sectional shape when determining the structure cross-sectional shape by using a computer.SOLUTION: A computer sets a first region and a second region in a reference structure cross-sectional shape. The first region is used for determining a cross-sectional shape by using a design dimension parameter of the reference structure cross-sectional shape. When deformation shapes in structure cross-sectional surfaces of a plurality of natural vibration modes of the reference structure cross-sectional shape are assumed to be basal cross-sectional shapes, the second region is used for determining a cross-sectional shape by using the basal cross-sectional shapes. The computer changes a dimension in a range of a determined design dimension parameter for the first region, and changes a value of weight strength in a determined weighting range for the second region to perform the weighting addition of the basal cross-sectional shape, and thereby forms a trial cross-sectional shape including the first region and the second region. A structure cross-sectional shape is optimized by using the trial cross-sectional shape.
