PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractor for a seat belt in which the thickness of a lock mechanism part can be reduced.SOLUTION: A retractor for a seat belt includes: a winding drum, which winds and stores webbing; a lock mechanism part, which is installed outside in the direction of rotation axis of the winding drum on one sidewall of a housing and prevents the winding drum from rotating in the webbing pulling-out direction in an emergency; and a mechanism cover, which is installed outside in the direction of rotation axis of the winding drum on the one sidewall and accommodates the lock mechanism. The winding drum has a ratchet gear provided at one side of the winding drum to rotate integrally. The lock mechanism has a locking gear, of which end surface inside in the direction of rotation axis is made to contact with the end surface outside in the direction of rotation axis of the ratchet gear and which is installed to be incapable of rotating relatively to the ratchet gear and coaxially. The one end side of the winding drum is supported rotatably on the mechanism cover via the locking gear. |
