PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a papermaking sizing agent including a dispersion liquid of substituted succinic anhydride, which is high in sizing property, good in emulsion stability, excellent in storage stability such as hydrolysis resistance, and hardly causes foam, and to provide paper obtained by using the papermaking sizing agent.SOLUTION: The papermaking sizing agent is obtained by dispersing a substituted succinic anhydride (A) with a dispersant comprising an acrylamide-based copolymer (B) including a (meta) acrylamide (b1), a carboxyl group containing ethylenic unsaturated monomer (b2), a crosslinkable monomer (b3), a 3-18C (meth)acrylic acid alkyl ester (b4) having branched and/or ring structures, and a monomer containing a sulfonic acid group and/or a salt thereof (b5), as monomer components. The zeta potential is -80 mV to -30 mV. |
