<p>A patellofemoral brace or support has a main substrate (15), a hinge (26) located on at least one of the lateral and medial sides, and a support system (40) coupled to the main substrate (15) and the hinge (26). The support system (40) has a compression element (70) removably securable over the main substrate (15) and a cable (62) having a first end anchored to a pivoting element (60) connected to the hinge (26) and a second end anchored to the compression element (70). The cable (62) engages the hinge (26) such that articulation of the hinge (26) from an extension position to a flexion position pulls the compression element (70) toward the hinge (26) to exert a generally medial force over the main substrate (15).</p> |
