A straight tube lamp (110) is held by means of an illuminating apparatus (120), which is provided with a first socket (122) that supplies power to the lamp. The lamp is provided with: a long cover (111); a substrate (112b), which is disposed in the cover (111); an LED (112a), which is provided on the substrate (112b); a power receiving ferrule (113), which receives, from the first socket (122), power for having the LED (112a) emit light; and a heat sink (115), which dissipates heat generated by the LED (112a). At least a part of the heat sink (115) is thermally connected to a heat dissipating member (124) disposed outside of the cover (111).
