A method for estimating a bandwidth of a transmitted signal from a received signal, the method includes receiving a (RE) signal, the received signal having a known symbol period and being filtered by a filter having a roll-off factor, the bandwidth can be estimated by a function depending on the roll-off factor and the symbol period of the received signal, sampling (SA) the received signal for generating a sampled signal, determining an order of the cyclic autocorrelation function, defining a first and a third predefined value of the cyclic frequency and second and forth predefined values of the delay, calculating (K) a ratio, using the estimated bandwidth for his own or others transmission purposes.
