PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify an amino acid sequence of a protein having naringenin 7-O-methyltransferase activity and a base sequence of its gene by isolating and purifying the protein.SOLUTION: There is provided a polypeptide comprising either one of following polypeptides and having naringenin 7-O-methyltransferase activity: (i) a polypeptide comprising a specific amino acid sequence; (ii) a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence obtained by addition, substitution or deletion of one or several amino acids of the specific amino acid sequence; (iii) a polypeptide having a sequence identity of at least 90% to the specific amino acid sequence; and (iv) a polypeptide comprising a partial sequence of the specific amino acid sequence.
