PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid a state that a first start elevator car cannot start immediately from a reference floor since elevator cars are gathered at a lower floor due to a return operation to the reference floor.SOLUTION: A multi-car elevator includes: at least two general elevator cars 13, 14 traveling in two shafts vertically, fixedly and respectively; and at least one special elevator car 17 which is horizontally movable between the two shafts. A group control device 20 includes: a service-completed elevator car detection part 31 for detecting an operation service-completed elevator car in respective elevator cars as a service-completed elevator car; a return determination part 32 for determining timing to return the service-completed elevator car to a reference floor on the basis of operation states of the elevator cars other than the service-completed elevator car; and an operation control part 33 for performing the returning operation of the service-completed elevator car to the reference floor when it is determined that the service-completed elevator car can be returned thereto. |
