This method allows quick and easy preform sterilization. The entire inner and outer surface including the opening (1a) of a preform (1) is sprayed with superheated steam (S) created from water and having a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure at 200°C-500°C, thus killing bacteria adhering to the inner and outer surfaces of the preform (1).
