PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an image processing system for reducing show-through of an image to be printed on a printing paper is not provided with means for utilizing characteristics of paper to be used and image data to be printed.SOLUTION: The image processing system comprises means for: printing a test pattern on paper to be used; scanning the back of outputted paper printed as above; calculating correlation between a scanned value and a signal value of the test pattern so as to produce information about show-through level; and analyzing concentration distribution of image data to be printed to determine a coefficient of an image processing for reducing show-through based on the information about show-through level. Printing of the image data to be printed, for which an image processing by application of the determined coefficient is executed, achieves an image in which image degradation is prevented as much as possible and show-through is reduced. The information about show-through level is memorized for each of multiple kinds of paper. Furthermore, the image processing system comprises means for allowing a user to designate an intensity of reducing effect of image processing for reducing show-through. |
