<p>A transverse prestress escape apparatus for use in high-rise fires, constituted by a cloth strap, a rope belt, or a rope that is provided with appropriate degrees of transverse prestress or transverse firmness, where the transverse direction is the direction perpendicular to the lengthwise direction of the cloth strap, of the rope belt, or of the rope. The transverse prestress can be generated by using one or various methods, can be stored within the cloth strap, the rope belt, or the rope, and can be stored between the cloth strap, the rope belt, or the rope; use of same to cancel a portion of the gravitational force of the weight of an escaper allows the escaper to escape at a safe speed. The transverse prestress escape apparatus is structurally simple, is capable of using the cloth strap, the rope belt, or the rope of adequate length without being oversized, and is applicable for escapes from high-rise fires.</p> |
