The device comprises a pre-precipitator (2), an endless conveyer having surface scrapers that are moved to promote separation of solitary rough particles in a collecting station, and a band filter (10) to remove fine particles from a fluid. The pre-precipitators and band filter are arranged in a separate housing. The pre-precipitator comprises a funnel element for collecting and conducting the fluid to the band filter, and an emergency overflow, which prevents overflowing of the pre-precipitator using a dirty filter section of the endless conveyer. The emergency overflow includes a sensor.
