The invention relates to a solar public lamppost (4) according to the single attached figure, which operates according to the following principle: the solar power collected by the photovoltaic panel (3) is converted into electric power and then sent via the electronic controller (8) to the storage battery (7) which is accommodated in the casing (5) protected by the cover (10). The electronic converter (6) converts the electric power stored in the battery (7) into AC current which, once night falls, powers the lamps (2) that are attached to the mounting (12) and controlled by the darkness detector (1). The electrical connection between the various elements is provided by the cables (13).
