<p>The invention relates to an apparatus 20 or method for use in an internal combustion engine in order to check the physical functionality of an intake throttle valve having a throttle blade, wherein the internal combustion engine has an air intake duct and the throttle blade controls an air flow through the air intake duct. The apparatus 20 comprising a control module 22 configured to access 10 a threshold indicative for the presence of the throttle blade, ascertain 12, whether the intake throttle valve is controlled to be in a closed position, in response thereto, detect 14 an intake pressure of the air intake duct, compare 16 the intake pressure with the threshold, and provide 18 an information indicative of the result of comparing. The invention makes a proper determination of whether the throttle flap of the intake valve is present and is based on the finding that the throttle blade can be forgotten during installation or be removed from the throttle valve.</p> |
