Disclosed is a means which enables the achievement of excellent coating film adhesion and excellent corrosion resistance in a coating step in a metal surface treatment method wherein a surface cleaning process (degreasing) and a coating base preparation process are carried out in a single step. Specifically disclosed is a metal surface treatment liquid which is characterized by being an aqueous solution having a pH of 3-14, said aqueous solution containing 10-1000 ppm of Bi ions and 100-2000 ppm of trivalent Fe ions, with the value of [2 × (Bi ion concentration) + (trivalent Fe ion concentration)] being 500-3000 ppm, and also containing a chelating agent and a surfactant that are sufficient for solubilizing Bi and Fe. |
