Designing nucleic acid sequences for storing information in the form of n values, where n is at least 1, comprises assigning different values to each of a group of codons coding for the same amino acid and designing a nucleic acid sequence comprising the codons in a sequence corresponding to the information to be stored. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a nucleic acid produced as above; (2) vector, cell and organism containing the nucleic acid; (3) transmitting information by conveying a nucleic acid, vector, cell or organism as above to a recipient; (4) labeling a cell or organism by introducing a nucleic acid as above. |
