A delivery system and method for interstitial radiation therapy comprising a therapeutic element, including an elongate, axially rigid and radially flexible member made of material, which is bio-absorbable in living tissue and a plurality of radioactive seeds dispersed in a predetermined array within the member and a needle with a lumen and a plug in the end of said needle wherein said therapeutic element is positioned inside said lumen of said needle.
