The filter assembly 100 comprises: at least one filter element 102,106 with activated carbon; a filter element comprising a reticulated foam 104; and a coalescing filter element 108. The filter assembly 100 can be used to filter out hydrocarbons including BTEX from water. In use, the filter element with activated carbon 106 is positioned at the downstream end of the filter assembly. The oil separator (200, figure 2), as well as the filter assembly 100, may also comprise: a settling chamber (212, figure 2); an inlet (214, figure 2); an outlet (216, figure 2); and a housing (210, figure 2). The filter assembly 100 can be coupled to the outlet (216, figure 2). The filter assembly 100 may have an total thickness of 40-95mm. |
