<p>A locking device for an adjustment device for adjusting a motor vehicle seat, encompassing at least one adjustable fitting, joined by at least one adapter unit with a seat part and a backrest. The adapter unit preferably comprises an upper 12 and a lower 22 adapter element. The fitting is adjustable relative to the seat part, so as to release and/or block an adjustment of the backrest relative to the seat part. At least one backrest force element 50 interacts with the backrest to expose the backrest to a force, at least with the locking device in an unlocked state. The backrest force element 50 is arranged on an interior side of the locking device.
