Granular pumice, where the surface is covered with a hydrophobic coating, is claimed. An independent claim is included for producing pumice, comprising moistening the granular pumice with an emulsion containing at least one hydrophobing agent forming the inner phase and dispersed in the outer phase, and then drying, where the hydrophobing agent forms a hydrophobic coating on the surface of pumice granules.
