634,465. Extruding thermoplastic material. DURATUBE & WIRE, Ltd., and VEIT, G., (Representative of VEIT, J.). Nov. 11, 1947, No. 29949. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] Flexible decorative stripping for use as personal belts, straps, &c. comprises a body-part 2 composed of extruded thermoplastic material such as polyvinyl chloride, having on at least one of its major faces longitudinal laterally spaced or parallel raised ribs or beads 8, 9, undercut on their opposed inward surfaces. Facing ribbons such as 3, 4, 5 and cover strips such as 6, 7, which may also be composed of thermoplastic material of different colours, are preferably preformed and drawn by wires 23, Fig. 5 (not shown), through the extrusion die simultaneously with the extrusion of the body part of the stripping. The ribbons and cover strips may be adhesively secured together and to the body part as a result of the heating produced by passage through the die, or by the aid of separately applied adhesive. Reinforcing wires or threads 13 of copper or of textile or vegetable fibre may be embedded longitudinally in the body part, ribbons, and cover strips. Modifications, Figs. 2, 3 and 4 (not shown), have the cover strips of T-shaped cross-section slotted or dovetailed into or formed integrally with the body part.
