<p>A folding and sliding door has door panels (2, 3, fig 1), each door panel having a door frame (12, 14), the door frames of each pair of adjacent door panels being interconnected by a respective hinged joint 1. The hinged joints comprise an alternating sequence of captive hinged joints and free hinged joints, the captive hinged joints being restricted to movement along a guide rail, the free hinged joints being free to move away from the guide rail during opening movement of the folding door. The hinge axis of each captive hinged joint A1-A1, A2-A2, is located within the profile of the respective door frames in order to reduce the offset weight which is required to be supported. The arrangement may also permit the hinges of the joints to lie within a weather seal and not to interrupt the weather seal.</p> |
