PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bark board and a straw mat as a residential-environment-friendly interior material such as wall material and ceiling material by use of natural raw materials. SOLUTION: A bark board of the invention is formed with: a bark fibrous material, fibrously stripped from barks of wood such as paper mulberry, mulberry, and cedar, and having various lengths; a fiber dispersion mainly composed of a liquid extracted from roots of sunset hibiscus or barks of panicled hydrangea; and chaff charcoal that is roasted chaff. The bark fibrous material and the chaff charcoal are added into a solution of a mixture of the fiber dispersion and water and sufficiently blended and kneaded so that the chaff charcoal enters into fibrous clearance spaces. Then the mixture is dehydrated and dried to form a chaff-charcoal board 1 in which the fibers of the bark fibrous material are tangled together, bonded by hydrogen bonding, and hardened. The chaff-charcoal board 1 is sandwiched between bark fibers 2, the top and bottom surfaces thereof being covered, then the top surface is overlayed with Japanese paper 3, and altogether combined into a single unit.
