[Classes 79 (iii), 79 (iv) and 136 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] The chassis-frame of a motor vehicle includes a pair of longitudinals disposed relatively near one another and supporting transverse and other frame members which support saddle-like seats for four adults in pairs abreast with the two rear seats close behind the front so that the rear passengers ride pillion fashion. The chassis-frame is built up from tubes on a member 12 which is U-shaped in plan and carries the power unit 11 at its front end. A transverse member 14 depending by brackets from approximately midway along the member 12 provides foot-rests for the driver and front passenger. Members 17 attached to the transverse member 14 incline upwards rearwardly and carry the front saddles 21 and terminate in horizontal portions 18 which carry the rear saddles 22 which are at a higher level than the front saddles. Foot-rests for the rear passengers are formed by a transverse member 25 depending from the upwardly inclined members 17. Hand-rests for the rear passengers are provided by a further transverse member 19 and by a cross-support (not shown) for the front passenger. The rear axle 30 may be of the solid type and is underslung by fore-and-aft laminated springs, each of which is connected to the chassis-frame at its forward end, and at its rearward end to a common V-shaped balance lever 33 flexibly connected centrally to a transverse frame member 13. The front wheel springing may be as described in Specification 617,866, [Group XXXII]. A front wheel drive may be employed as described in Specification 617,865. Handles 38, 39 may be used to lift the vehicle over rough country. A tubular framework 35 may support a cover 36 for the power unit. A suitable wheel-base is stated to be 4 feet with a front track of 3 feet and a rear track of 2¢ feet. Wings and mudguards are mounted over the front and rear wheels respectively. Specification 16010/96, [Class 79], which relates to a fire engine, formed by securing two tandem bicycles sido-by-side with an engine supported between them, is referred to.
