The silencer unit (1) has two-piece housing (4) with respective cup-like housing portions (2,3) made of austenitic or/and ferritic material, in which outlet and inlet openings (5,6) are formed. The outlet bottom (12) and inlet bottom (13) are inserted into outlet and inlet openings as outlet and inlet opening covers. The outer circumferential surface of outlet bottom collar is partly in contact with inner circumferential surface of outlet collar and outer circumferential surface of the inlet bottom collar is partly in contact with inner circumferential surface of the inlet collar. An independent claim is included for an exhaust system for motor vehicle.
