[Class 12 (i)] The tilting, axial and rotational movement of the outer race ring 23 of a self-aligning ball bearing 22 is limited by a loose pin 37 disposed within radial bores 32, 34, 35 in the strap portion 11 of a light-weight pillow block 10, a lubricant-impregnated sintered iron adaptor ring 18 and the outer race ring 23 respectively. From a nipple 33 lubricant flows around the pin 37 to a bearing chamber 28 via a small bore 36 terminating the hole 35. The said chamber is sealed by a retainer 29 and a finger 30 pressed into the outer and inner race rings 23, 25 respectively and interspaced by a felt washer 31. As shown, the strap 11 has a shoulder 16 to take end thrust, but in a modification this is not provided.</p> |
