A liquid crystal display including an in-cell retardation film and a columnar spacer is provided to prevent a coating stain, thereby preventing degradation of display quality. First and second substrates(100,200) include a plurality of pixel areas. Color filters(204a,204b,204c) are formed on one surface of the first substrate and positioned to correspond to the plurality of pixel areas. An in-cell retardation film(208) is positioned on the entire surface of the first substrate with the color filters formed thereon and includes the first region where liquid crystal molecules are irregularly arranged and the second region where liquid crystal molecules are regularly arranged. A columnar spacer(CS) is formed to correspond to the first region. A switching element is formed on one surface of the second substrate and positioned at one side of each pixel area. A gate line and a data line(120) are connected with the switching element and positioned at one side and at the other side of each pixel area. Pixel electrodes(122) and common electrodes(130) are formed at each pixel area. |
