The invention concerns a gravitational separation device for water treatment for separating particles suspended in a liquid phase, said device comprising a circular tank (1), at least one channel supplying (2) water to said tank provided at the periphery thereof, a plurality of orifices (3) provided in the floor (4) of said channel, means forming deviating plates (6a) provided beneath said orifices, apron-forming means (7) provided spaced apart form the inner wall (1a) of the tank (1), means for evacuating (5) said liquid phase and means for evacuating (8a, 8b) said separated particles. The invention is characterized in that said apron-forming means (7) slope towards the inside of the tank at an angle .alpha. between 5~ and 80~ relative to the vertical.
