PURPOSE: A backlight unit is provided to reduce a viewing angle by emitting light with a narrow angle from a light source to a light guide plate. CONSTITUTION: A light source unit (211) includes a light source and a first light path control member. A light guide plate (213) changes the light path horizontally emitted from the light source unit and emits the light incident. The light guide plate includes a second light path control element (213a) and a third light path control member (213b). The second light path control member is arranged in the entering part of the light guide plate. The third light path control member is arranged on the lower surface of the light guide plate.
