PURPOSE: A texture feature for biometric authentication is provided to be used for the management of a user access to resources and user authentication by analyzing the white-of-eye image of a user. CONSTITUTION: An image area is obtained from the first image of eyes (602). The image area includes a view for each part of ocular vasculature. Descriptors for the image area are generated by applying a distinct filter to the image area (608). The distinct filter includes a convolutional filter. A match score is determined based on the generated descriptors and one or more descriptors related to the second image of the ocular vasculature (610).
