PURPOSE: A washing machine is provided to change the rotation direction of a rotary drum without stopping the rotary drum, the rotation speed of the rotary drum without a transmission, and the rotation direction of the rotary drum at high speed instantaneously. CONSTITUTION: A washing machine comprises a rotary drum (1), a first motor (10), a second motor (20), and a stopper (25). The rotary drum is installed in a water receiving container. The rotary drum is coupled to the first motor. The stopper is arranged in one of the first and second motors driven later to stop a rotary shaft of the motor driven later when the motor is stopped. The motor driven later is driven back and forth to change the rotation direction of the rotary drum without stopping the rotary drum, the rotation speed of the rotary drum without a transmission, and the rotation direction of the rotary drum at high speed instantaneously. |
