PURPOSE: A composition containing gibberellic acid 4 is provided to enhance the rate of dehiscence and embryonic growth of ginseng seeds by treating the ginseng seeds, thereby increasing productivity of seedlings and ingredients of ginseng. CONSTITUTION: A composition for promoting dehiscence and/or embryonic growth of ginseng seeds contains 50-300 ppm of gibberellic acid 4 as an active ingredient. The ginseng is selected among Chunpoong, Gopoong, Seonpoong, Seonwon, Seonwun, Seonhyang, Cheongseon, Geumpoong, and Hwagisam. A method for promoting dehiscence and/or embryonic growth of ginseng seeds comprises the step of treating the ginseng seeds with gibberellic acid 4.
