The wire saw is provided with: multiple processing rollers (14A, 14B) across which a wire (11) for processing workpieces is installed and circles; and a pair of traversers (16A, 16B) that are each moved back and forth along directions that are parallel to the axis lines of a pair of bobbins (12A, 12B) and which guide the winding and unwinding of the wire (11). The wire (11) is made to travel back and forth following the reciprocating rotation of the processing rollers (14A, 14B) and the bobbins (12A, 12B). Cutting of a workpiece (W) is performed by the wire (11) at a position between the processing rollers (14A, 14B). During reversal of the direction of wire (11) travel, the angles of the wire (11) between the bobbins (12A, 12B) and the traversers (16A, 16B) with respect to the axis lines of the bobbins (12A, 12B) are detected. The movements of the traversers (16A, 16B) are adjusted and the positions of the traversers (16A, 16B) are corrected according to the detection results so that the angles of the wire (11) are set to be 90°. |
