PURPOSE: A payment processing system using a local area wireless technique and a method thereof are provided to reduce product payment time by requesting a payment approval for a selected product through a terminal to a finance server through selecting a purchase target product by referencing a product list received from a host server using a terminal mounted with a near field communication (NFC) module. CONSTITUTION: A terminal (100) transmits at least one product NFC information obtained from an NFC tag (500) to a host server (200). The terminal selects a purchase target product among a product list received from the host server. The terminal determines whether to approve payment by payment requesting information obtained by the transmission of product selection information and transmits approval information to the host server according to the result of the determination. A finance server (400) uses payment approval request information transmitted from the host server for paying for the product and for transmitting payment approval completion information to the terminal or the host server.
