PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing effective amount of arsenic alkali metal salts or arsenic alkaline earth metal salts is provided to enhance radiosensitivity and radiation therapy effect. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for enhancing radiosensitivity contains effective amount of arsenic alkaline metal salts or arsenic alkaline earth metal salts. The pharmaceutical composition further contains a pharmaceutically acceptable adjuvant. The arsenic alkaline metal salts are sodium arsenite, potassium arsenite, calcium arsenite, or magnesium arsenite. The effective amount of the arsenic alkaline metal salts or arsenic alkaline earth metal salts is 0.0001-1500 mg/kg body weight/day. The pharmaceutical composition is manufactured in an oral formulation. The oral formulation is a tablet, capsule, powder, and a solution which contains pharmaceutically acceptable carriers, diluents, or excipients. The pharmaceutical composition is used through parenteral administration, topical administration, intradermal administration, direct intratumoral administration, or administration using an insertion device. |
