A secondary battery is provided to minimize the area of a resin molding space, thereby preventing the shrinkage after the curing of a resin molding and the generation of bubble. A secondary battery comprises a bare cell which has a rectangular shape having cavity and contains a can for accommodating an electrode assembly in the cavity; a protection circuit(31) which is connected with the electrode assembly by a lead electrode(25) and controls the charge/discharge of the electrode assembly; and an external cover which surrounds the some part of the bare cell, the lead electrode and the protection circuit and is provided with a side cover(27) and a resin molding cover, wherein the resin molding cover has at least one reduction cavity(B) at the non-resin region(C) formed by the protection circuit, the side cover and the lead electrode. |
