The method involves determining quantity of injected liquid according to volume of reducing liquid present in an injection circuit (3). The volume of reducing liquid is determined by a difference between a maximum volume of the circuit occupied by a liquid and the volume of reducing liquid injected by an injector (2) from a supply of the circuit by a pump (5). The volume of liquid injected by the injector is equal to a product of maximum volume of a surge tank (7) by a difference between maximum pressure of the circuit and pressure reigning in the circuit before the injection. An independent claim is also included for a method for managing a quantity of a reducing liquid injected into an exhaust pipe of a car.
