The present invention relates to a mineral fibre composite product with enhanced insulation properties and to an improved method for manufacturing it. The composite material contains primary mineral fibre layers and aerogel material layers. According to the invention two separate primary mineral fibre webs are manufactured and the aerogel material is added between the primary webs to obtain an intermediate mineral fibre composite web. In the final composite product the intermediate webs are folded at least partially on top of each other and compressed.
