PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent hindrance to the movement of a rod by a free piston.SOLUTION: A hydraulic shock absorber includes: a cylinder 10 for storing oil and gas; a free piston 40 which is slidably provided in the cylinder 10, divides oil and gas and forms an oil chamber and a gas chamber in the cylinder 10; and a piston/rod mechanism section having a piston 20 slidably provided in the oil chamber of the cylinder 10 and a piston rod 30 supporting the piston 20 and having a part projecting from the cylinder 10. The free piston 40 includes a breakage section capable of communicating a second oil chamber Y2 with a gas chamber G when the free piston receives contact of an end section of the piston rod mechanism section. In the hydraulic shock absorber, in a state in which the free piston 40 and the end section (the piston 20) of the piston rod mechanism section are brought into contact with each other, a gap to be a flow passage of oil between the gas chamber G and the second oil chamber Y2 is formed between a through hole 43H of the breakage section and the end section. |
