The invention relates to a crimping apparatus for crimping a filament bundle in a melt spinning process. To this end, the apparatus has a delivery nozzle and a stuffer box which is assigned to the delivery nozzle for the purpose of stuffer-box crimping the filament bundle delivered through the delivery nozzle. For the purpose of thermal treatment, a treatment device is arranged downstream of the stuffer box, said treatment device having a rotatable treatment drum having a rotating drum wall for guiding and controlling the temperature of a thread plug. In order to be able to treat the thread plug in as gentle a manner as possible, according to the invention the stuffer box is arranged axially parallel to the treatment drum such that the thread plug can be fed in a straight run to the circumference of the drum wall from a plug outlet of the stuffer box. In this way, the naturally acting weight force of the thread plug can advantageously be used to guide the thread plug. |
