The device has a sensor unit (S,KS) for detecting head position (kp) of the rider. A control unit (SE) is located to output drive signal (a1-a3) for adjusting the mirror based on the data (d1a,d1b,d2) of the sensor unit. An actuator is provided to adjust the mirror (Spi,Spl,Spr) response to the drive signal. The sensor unit is provided with acoustic echo sensor (SES). The acoustic echo sensor is integrated in the headrest (KSt) of the driver's seat so as to collect data (d1a) regarding the driver's head position relative to the headrest.
