PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shutoff damper of a simple structure that improves sealing performance of a damper blade and a sealing material to prevent deposition of ash on the sealing material, and to provide a boiler.SOLUTION: A duct 11 in which hot air flows from an air preheater 3 includes a vertical section 10 extending in the vertical direction in which the hot air from the air preheater 3 flows downward in the vertical direction, and a horizontal section 9 extending in the horizontal direction which is located upstream of the vertical section 10 and connected to the vertical section 10. A shutoff damper 19 installed in the duct 11 includes a damper blade that can shut a passage in the damper, a rotating shaft that is installed upward of the damper blade in the vertical direction and rotates the damper blade, and a sealing material that contacts the damper blade for sealing near the edge situated downstream of the horizontal section 9. The damper blade and the sealing material 14 are disposed at the corner formed at the connecting part of the horizontal section 9 and the vertical section. |
