The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for detecting a tag having a transponder (8) for identification by means of electromagnetic waves (RFID), wherein a synchronization unit (3) is electromagnetically coupled to the transponder (8) and outputs a trigger signal (6) for activating a supplementary system (9) on the basis of the occurrence of data interchange with the transponder (8).
